The Registro de Intérpretes para Sordos de Puerto Rico, (RISPRI) was incorporated in 1996 as Intérpretes para Sordos de Puerto Rico, Inc., reincorporated in 1999 as the Puerto Rico Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., and incorporated once again in 2016 as the Registro de Intérpretes para Sordos de Puerto Rico, Inc.
RISPRI is a non-profit membership organization that plays a leading role in advocating for excellence in the delivery of interpretation and transliteration services between people who use sign language and people who use spoken language in Puerto Rico.
In collaboration with the Deaf community, we support our members and encourage the growth of the profession by advocating for uniformity of standards, best practices in interpreting, ongoing professional development for interpreters, adherence to a code of professional conduct and the highest standards in the provision of interpreting services for diverse users of languages that are signed or spoken in Puerto Rico.
We serve as a resource for those who are looking to hire a qualified sign language interpreter by providing access to our searchable membership database.
We educate the community at large about the importance of using qualified sign language interpreters and about the role of sign language interpreters in order to ensure quality interpreting services for the Deaf community in Puerto Rico.
